significant differences due the variations in the animal\u2019s anatomy and the extreme forces that\u00a0can be placed on their joints, bones, tendons and muscles.\u00a0 As a result, rehabilitation programs should be developed with veterinary rehabilitation professionals who work closely with your pet\u2019s veterinarian.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_43\" style=\"width: 349px\" class=\"wp-caption is very important for our pets.\u00a0 However, the longer the body is inactive, the more muscle atrophy will occur.\u00a0 Realistically, getting back to structured activity is extremely important for the healing process, which is why rehabilitation therapy recommended after surgical procedures.<\/p>\n<h3>After a surgery, rehabilitation therapy can be beneficial for animal companions by:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Reducing inflammation and pain after surgery<\/li>\n<li>Promoting early weight bearing<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening supporting tissues<\/li>\n<li>Decreasing compensatory muscle, myofascial, and back pain<\/li>\n<li>Providing mental stimulation for pets who have had restricted activity<\/li>\n<li>Improving coordination and balance<\/li>\n<li>Reversing muscle atrophy<\/li>\n<li>Promoting weight loss if needed<\/li>\n<li>Developing structured homework program<\/li>\n<li>Safely promoting faster return to function<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Types \u2013 IVDD, nerve sheath tumor surgeries<\/li>\n<li>Oncology cases \u2013 concurrent pain management assistance, amputation patients<\/li>\n<li>Soft Tissue cases \u2013 wound care, degloving (reducing the need for pain medication)<\/li>\n<li>Strengthens muscles to reverse muscle mass atrophy<\/li>\n<li>Increases range of motion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rehabilitation programs are developed for each veterinary patient as a unique individual based on their specific problems and their unique needs in order to clinically progress.\u00a0 Depending on the case, electrical stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound, underwater treadmill, swimming, acoustic compression therapy, massage, laser therapy, acupuncture, veterinary spinal manipulation, a variety of exercises or any combination of these
